Ingredients

20 jumbo pasta shells

2 cups ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta Shells: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully add the jumbo pasta shells and cook according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Once cooked, drain the shells and set them aside, ensuring they are upright to prevent sticking together.

Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped parsley, garlic powder, oregano, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Stir the mixture until it is smooth and well-combined.

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to preheat at 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is hot when your stuffed shells are ready to bake.

Assemble the Shells: Take a large baking dish and spread 1 cup of marinara sauce evenly across the bottom. Carefully fill each cooked pasta shell with the ricotta and cheese mixture using either a spoon or a piping bag for precision. Arrange the stuffed shells in a single layer in the baking dish.

Top with Sauce and Cheese: Once all the stuffed shells are placed in the dish, pour the remaining marinara sauce over the entire top. Finish by evenly sprinkling the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese over the sauce for that extra cheesy goodness.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil to keep moisture in, and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, remove the foil and continue to bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and has a light golden color.

Serve: Once baked, carefully take the dish out of the oven and allow it to cool for about 5 minutes. If desired, garnish with fresh basil leaves for a pop of color and flavor. Serve hot and revel in the cheesy delight!
