Ingredients

20 jumbo pasta shells

2 cups ricotta cheese

1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (blend of basil, oregano, and thyme)

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it's hot and ready for baking.

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, add the jumbo shells. Cook them for 8-10 minutes until they are al dente (firm to the bite). Once cooked, drain the shells and rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set them aside for later use.

Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of the shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan cheese, the egg, garlic powder, dried Italian herbs, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything together until you have a smooth and well-blended filling.

Stuff the Shells: Take an individual cooked shell and use a spoon or a piping bag to generously fill it with the ricotta mixture. Ensure each shell is well-stuffed. Repeat this process until all the shells are filled.

Layer the Sauce: In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread approximately ½ cup of marinara sauce evenly across the bottom to create a base for the shells. Place the stuffed shells in a single layer over the sauce.

Top with Sauce and Cheese: Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells, ensuring they are well-coated. Then sprinkle the rest of the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top for a cheesy finish.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. To prevent sticking, lightly spray the foil with cooking spray. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Afterward, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. If desired, garnish with fresh basil leaves for a pop of color and flavor. Serve the stuffed shells warm.

                  Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 50 minutes | Servings: 4-6

                    - Presentation Tips: For an appealing presentation, serve the stuffed shells on individual plates, allowing some marinara sauce to pool around the sides, and sprinkle additional Parmesan on top. A sprig of basil makes a lovely and fresh garnish. Enjoy!
