Ingredients

6 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

2 cups of fresh cranberries (or frozen, once thawed)

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp grated nutmeg

2 cups rolled oats

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a large sheet pan by lining it with parchment paper for simpler cleanup.

In a sizable mixing bowl, mix together the sliced apples, fresh cranberries, brown sugar, lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss thoroughly to coat the fruit evenly. Spread the mixture out uniformly on the prepared sheet pan.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, the remaining 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Combine well.

Incorporate the cold, cubed butter into the oat mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, blend until the mixture achieves a coarse crumb texture. If desired, stir in the chopped nuts.

Distribute the oat crumble blend evenly over the apple and cranberry layer in the sheet pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping turns golden brown and the fruit starts to bubble.

After baking, take it out of the oven and allow it to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy it warm, possibly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream alongside!
