Ingredients

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

Juice and zest of 2 limes

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste

8 small corn tortillas

1 cup red cabbage, finely shredded

1 avocado, sliced

Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

Lime wedges for serving

Optional: sour cream or homemade cilantro-lime crema for topping

Instructions

Marinate the Shrimp: In a medium mixing bowl, add the cleaned shrimp, minced garlic, olive oil, lime juice, lime zest, chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together until the shrimp are evenly coated in the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Cook the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Carefully add the marinated shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, until the shrimp turn pink and opaque—be cautious not to overcook them as they can become rubbery. Once cooked, remove the skillet from the heat.

Warm the Tortillas: While the shrimp are cooking, take another skillet and warm the corn tortillas over medium heat. Cook them for approximately 30 seconds on each side until they become pliable and develop slight char marks. Alternatively, you can wrap the tortillas in aluminum foil and place them in a preheated oven to warm.

Assemble the Tacos: Lay a few pieces of cooked shrimp on each warmed tortilla. Top generously with the finely shredded red cabbage, add a few slices of creamy avocado, and finish with a scattering of fresh cilantro leaves.

Serve: Serve the tacos immediately, accompanied by lime wedges for an extra burst of freshness. If desired, add a dollop of sour cream or a drizzle of cilantro-lime crema for added richness.
