Ingredients

For the Pumpkin Bread:

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

½ teaspoon ground ginger

½ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup canned pumpkin puree

2 large eggs, at room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional, for added crunch)

For the Maple Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

2 tablespoons milk (adjust for desired consistency)

A pinch of sea salt

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan thoroughly to prevent sticking, then set it aside.

Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, use a whisk to combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and ground ginger. Once mixed, set this bowl aside for later use.

Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, employ an electric mixer to cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until the mixture becomes light in color and fluffy, this should take about 3-4 minutes.

Incorporate Pumpkin and Eggs: Gradually mix in the pumpkin puree until fully blended. Add the eggs, one at a time, making sure to incorporate each egg completely before adding the next. Finally, stir in the vanilla extract until just mixed.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, gently folding them together until they are just combined. Be cautious not to overmix; it’s perfectly fine to have a few lumps. If you're adding nuts, gently fold them into the batter at this point.

Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center of the bread; it should come out clean when the bread is ready.

Cool the Bread: After baking, remove the pumpkin bread from the oven. Allow it to rest in the loaf pan for about 10 minutes before carefully transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Maple Glaze: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, pure maple syrup, milk, and a pinch of sea salt until the mixture is smooth and pourable. If the glaze is too thick, gradually add more milk until you achieve your desired consistency.

Glaze the Bread: Once the pumpkin bread has cooled completely, drizzle the maple glaze generously over the top, allowing it to cascade down the sides for an eye-catching finish. Let the glaze sit for a few minutes to set.

Serve and Enjoy: Slice the bread into thick pieces and serve warm or at room temperature. Pair your delightful maple glazed pumpkin bread with a steaming cup of coffee or tea for a cozy treat!
