Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

4 cups broccoli florets

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

2 teaspoons cornstarch

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon ginger, minced

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Cooked jasmine rice or noodles, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: Place the thinly sliced beef in a mixing bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, and 2 teaspoons of cornstarch. Mix thoroughly until the beef is evenly coated. Allow the beef to marinate for about 10 minutes, giving you time to prepare the other ingredients.

Prep the Broccoli: While the beef is marinating, fill a large pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil. Carefully add the broccoli florets and blanch them for 1-2 minutes, just until they turn vibrant green and are slightly tender. Drain the broccoli in a colander and set aside.

Sear the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef, spreading it out in a single layer. Let it sear undisturbed for about 1-2 minutes. Stir-fry the beef for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until it is nicely browned and cooked through.

Add Aromatics: Toss in the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet, along with the red pepper flakes if you like a bit of heat. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until the mixture is fragrant and the garlic is golden.

Combine with Broccoli: Add the blanched broccoli back into the skillet. Pour in the remaining 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce. Stir-fry everything together for another 1-2 minutes, ensuring all ingredients are well combined and heated through.

Serve & Garnish: Remove the skillet from heat. Serve the beef and broccoli mixture over cooked jasmine rice or noodles. For an attractive finish, garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and a handful of sliced green onions.
