Ingredients

1 pound ground chicken

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 red bell pepper, diced

1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped

1 small onion, diced

2-3 Thai bird's eye chilies, finely chopped (adjust to your heat preference)

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon fish sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves, loosely packed

1 head of butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce, separated into leaves

Sliced cucumber and carrots for garnish

Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

Prep the Lettuce: Begin by washing the lettuce leaves gently under cold water. Shake off excess water and lay them on a clean kitchen towel, allowing them to dry thoroughly.

Cook the Chicken: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant but not burnt.

Add the Vegetables: Stir in the diced onion, red bell pepper, and finely chopped mushrooms. Cook for approximately 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally until the vegetables have softened.

Incorporate the Chicken: Raise the heat to high and add the ground chicken to the skillet. Use a spatula to break it apart, cooking until it's browned and cooked through, which should take about 5-7 minutes.

Flavor the Mixture: Once the chicken is fully cooked, stir in the finely chopped bird's eye chilies (adjust based on your spice tolerance), soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and brown sugar. Mix everything until evenly combined and let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to ensure the flavors meld together.

Add the Basil: Remove the skillet from the heat and gently fold in the fresh Thai basil leaves. The residual heat will wilt them perfectly.

Assemble Wraps: Take a generous lettuce leaf and spoon in a hearty portion of the chicken mixture into the center. Top with slices of cucumber and carrot for a refreshing crunch.

Serve: For an extra burst of flavor, squeeze fresh lime juice over each wrap just before enjoying. Serve immediately and savor the delightful flavors!
